Banking for Funds, SPVs and Corporate Structures in Luxembourg
Luxembourg is the largest investment fund centre in Europe and the second largest globally, with over five trillion euros in assets under administration. It is the dominant domicile for UCITS, private equity funds, and alternative investment vehicles seeking EU distribution. Its holding company and SPV framework is sophisticated, well-regulated, and well-understood by international banks.

Opening a bank account for a Luxembourg-domiciled entity is not always straightforward. Fund vehicles, SPVs, and holding companies with international ownership chains require thorough KYC preparation, consistent UBO register entries, and careful bank selection. The major Luxembourg private banks have mature frameworks for these structures.
Selecting the wrong bank or approaching without a complete file adds weeks to a process that clients expect to move quickly.

iKYC helps CSPs, fund administrators, family offices, and international corporates secure banking for Luxembourg structures efficiently.

Who We Work With in Luxembourg

Corporate service providers and fund administrators engage us when a new structure requires banking and the standard bank relationship is not moving quickly enough or when the structure falls outside standard appetite.

Family offices and UHNW principals use us when establishing Luxembourg holding companies, family foundation vehicles, or investment structures and need operational banking in place from day one.

International corporates setting up Luxembourg SPVs, finance vehicles, or securitisation structures engage us to secure multi-currency operational accounts with institutions that understand the local regulatory and legal framework.

Luxembourg Entities Banking Across the EU

A Luxembourg-domiciled entity has the legal right under EU directives to open and operate a bank account in any EU member state. The Payment Accounts Directive, the SEPA Regulation, and the geo-blocking regulation together mean a bank in another EU jurisdiction cannot refuse to open an account solely because the entity is based in Luxembourg.

In practice this means Luxembourg structures can access banking in the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, or elsewhere in the EU when local banking better serves the entity's operational or tax substance requirements. We use this framework to expand banking options for clients when Luxembourg-based institutions are slow or where a multi-jurisdictional treasury setup makes sense.
Case Study: Multi-Currency Account Opening for a Luxembourg AIF

A Luxembourg-based fund manager engaged us to open operational banking for a newly established alternative investment fund. The fund had a non-EU general partner and a complex investor base spanning three continents, which placed it in an enhanced risk category with most Luxembourg banks. We prepared a detailed onboarding file, selected two banking partners with established appetite for the fund structure and sector, and managed the submission process through to account activation.
The fund was operational within the timeline required by its first close.
